Mosaic of vineyards

Vineyards are scattered across Baldomar. Seen from the highest places they form an unmistakable constellation contrasting sharply with the surrounding crop fields. Cut back and brown in winter and in summer full of green and fresh vitality. Laid out here and there, the various vineyards bring different nuances to our wines.

ESTATES WITH PERSONALITY

Ever since we planted our first vines in 1981, the number of plots we use has grown. Today we have twenty hectares that we own or which belong to other farmers who have agreed to let us use them.
Each of the estates, whether on the plain or in the most isolated and mountainous parts of the municipality, expresses a unique character, the sum of the specific conditions of the place and the varieties it hosts. Each vineyard has its own little history and the sum of all of them forms a rich and complex tale that is becoming increasingly important for the story of the winery.

THE SUITABILITY OF THE ENVIRONMENT

Large areas near the village, plots next to the roads, at the foot of oak trees or on the highest raised edges, small vineyards planted on gentle slopes: wherever the vine stocks are, the valley is a propitious environment that protects their roots and pampers the grapes.
Winds and fog bring humidity while the deep limestone and clay soils hold the water that is so cherished during the months of drought. In summer, with the vines laden with tendrils, the wide temperature variation between night and day protects the health of the plants. Our valley is a place touched by natural qualities which as viticulturists we try to guide and use.

HIGHLY PRECISE VITICULTURE

The purpose of our work in the fields is to produce grapes of the highest quality. The soil is rich and we want to restrict its productivity. To do that, we care for our crops with minimal treatments, short pruning and appropriate positioning.
Visitors often compare Vall de Baldomar vineyards with tastefully landscaped gardens. It is a pleasant and agreeable image which makes perfect sense if we think about the kind of viticulture we are engaged in: delicate and strict at the same time, well regulated, and very precise.
